Francis "Joe" McCort, 88, of Temperanceville passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, WV. He was born in Barnesville, Ohio on May 3, 1927 to the late Patrick and Bertha (McLaughlin) McCort.
Joe was a member of the St. Mary's Church in Temperanceville. He was part owner of McCort Stone Quarry and McCort Bros. Beef Cattle. Joe retired from Sharron Stone Quarry in 2000.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Justin, Charles and Frederick McCort; three sisters: Lucy (Hubert) Mansfield, Ruth (Earl) Wehr and Mary McCort; and brother-in-law, Denver Steele.
Joe is survived by two sisters: Edna Steele of Bellaire and Adalaide (Donald) Moore of Zanesville; brother, Patrick McCort and his wife Norma who was Joe's very good friend and caretaker; and lots of friends, nieces, nephews and his two little girls, Erica and Brook.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 4-8pm with a vigil service at 7:30pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 11am at St. Mary's Church in Temperanceville with Father Dave Cornett officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
