Elizabeth "Toodie"Piersol Kloss Fliss, 82, of Vestal, NY passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Friday, March 16, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on August 21, 1929 in Bethesda, OH. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert E. Kloss; second husband, Joseph Fliss; an infant son; brother, William Piersol; sister Joanne Piersol Orrison; and her parents Martha Brown Piersol and Smith Cunnard Piersol. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Laura Kloss Cline (David), Diana Kloss Wilson (Marcus), and Robert E. Kloss, Jr. (Renata); seven grandchildren, Adam Cline, Ashley Cline Peck, Kendall Wilson, Kyle Wilson, Cassandra Kloss, Alyssa Kloss, Jessica Kloss; and brother, John Cunnard Piersol (Karen). She was raised on a dairy farm in Barnesville, Ohio. Her given name is Elizabeth, but she was known most often in her hometown as Toodie, and as Libby is the Triple Cities area. She attended The Ohio State University, where she met her first husband, Robert. Libby worked for two years at the State Office Building in Columbus, Ohio, while her husband completed his Masters degree. They moved to Wheeling, WV where she became a dedicated homemaker and mother. Robert was a disc jockey and radio personality. They moved from Wheeling to Philadelphia to New York City to California and finally to the Triple Cities area because of his career. Robert was the manager of WNBF radio while Libby volunteered at Roberson Museum as a docent, leading tours for school children and other groups. Robert and Elizabeth divorced in 1968. Libby remaried in 1978, but became a widow in 1979 when her second husband, Joseph Fliss, died suddenly. She was an avid supporteer of the Binghamton Symphony, Roberson Museum, and the Anitque Society. Libby was an active member at the Phelps Mansion (Monday Afternoon Club). She always said how much she enjoyed the community and that she was very glad that she was able to raise her children here. Her other interests included playing tennis, bridge, dancing, reading about history and biographies, watching the Yankees and other sports on TV and going to watch her grandchildren in swimming, dance or soccer competitions when they were younger. Her greatest passion and one of the ways that she showed love to her family was her cooking. We all loved it! Visitation will be Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 11 am until the time of service at 1 pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio with Ben Heskett officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of their choice.
