Dorothy Guindon, 96, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at the Walton Retirement Home. She was born on February 11, 1924, in Whittier, Iowa to the late William P. and Anna L. (Smith) Bedell.

She grew up in a close-knit Quaker community of Whittier, Iowa and attended William Penn College. She married Clifford in 1948 and moved to Ohio where they raised five children on the Olney Friends School Farm. She worked at Olney in the kitchen cooking where she was known for her weekly pies and cinnamon rolls. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, a positive comment, and a smile when needed. She approached work and physical labor with enthusiasm, energy, and joy preferring to keep herself busy up to her death. She was a member of the Stillwater Monthly Meeting of The Religious Society of Friends. She was very active in the Quaker community, at Olney, the Farm Bureau, and Ruritan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford J. Guindon on April 14, 2012; an infant son, Dennis; and four siblings, Donald Bedell, Clarence Bedell, Reva Hampton, and Jessie Parker.

Dorothy is survived by her four sons, Dale (Debbie) of Martinsville, Ohio, Leonard (Legenia) of Jerusalem, Donald (Jan Chambers) of Barnesville, and Lloyd (Robyn Richmond) of Wallingford, Pennsylvania; daughter, Janet (Charles) Hammer of Amesville, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020, from 1:00pm until 5:00pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. A service will be after the manner of Friends on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 1pm at Stillwater Monthly Meeting House, 62830 Sandy Ridge Road, Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow at Stillwater Cemetery, Barnesville.
