A true Barnesville Shamrock fan, Don attended thousands of games over the years.

Donald B. Grear, 93, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at WVU Medicine - Barnesville Hospital. He was born on July 15, 1933, in Barnesville, Ohio to the late John Thomas and Celesta Minerva "Mattie" Grear.

Don was a 1951 graduate of Barnesville High School and had recently celebrated his 75th class reunion. He retired from Ohio Bell, where he worked as a lineman, and later spent 12 years working for the Village of Barnesville as caretaker of Barnesville Memorial Park.

He was a member of the Barnesville Boosters Club and 200 Club for more than 50 years, serving as a past president. He was also a 50-year member of the Elks Club and a longtime member of the Barnesville Moose.

A true Barnesville Shamrock fan, Don attended thousands of games over the years-first supporting his children and grandchildren and, many times, simply because he loved watching the Shamrocks play. His community spirit was also evident each fall during the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival, where he won multiple first-place awards in the festival's home decorating competitions.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Nancy Jean (Hanlon) Grear who passed away on February 21, 2021; great-grandson, Colby Hannahs; grandson-in-law, Timothy Hayslett; siblings, Lucille Miller, Daisy Lehman, Dorothy Browning, J.T. Grear, Wanda Lynn, Glenn Grear, Juanita Gilham, and Larry Grear.

Don's grandchildren are Jennifer (Jeff) Wise, Theresa Gallagher, Dyan (Brian) Hannahs, Ryan (Ashly) Grear, Shawna (Dave) Bratlie, Keith (Inessa) Ropchock, Anthony (Arci) Grear, Brian (Alitza) Grear, Sybil Carpenter, Kori Hayslett, Karri (Steve) Kovalick, Kaiti (Chris) Panepucci, Kati Anderson, Malorie (Michael) Kubat, Chelsea (Shane) Grimes, and Morgan (Devin) Stephen.
