Donald Edward Carpenter, 72, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Barnesville Hospital. He was born on October 10, 1941 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Clarence and Ruth (Sutherland) Carpenter.

Donald graduated from Barnesville High School in 1960. He married Carol Miller in 1967 and they lived together in Temperanceville for his entire life.

Mr. Carpenter was an active farmer, sheep shearer, and wool buyer for Mid-States Wool Growers, as well as an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Farm Bureau, and the Clearwater Water Board. He served over 25 years on the Barnesville Exempted Village School Board, including the Belmont-Harrison Joint Vocational School Board and Ohio School Boards Association Southeast Region. He loved children and supported the local 4-H, FFA, and Belmont County Fair. He also loved to travel, and spend time with family and friends.

Donald is survived by his wife of 46 years - Carol, two children - Duane (Cheryl) Carpenter of Beallsville, Ohio and David (Traci) Carpenter of Shaker Heights, Ohio; he will also be deeply missed by his four grandchildren; Kyle, Clay, Alexa, and Adelyn; siblings - Patricia (Russell) Leach, Howard (Joanne) Carpenter; Bernard (Julie) Carpenter; sister-in-law - Martha (Robert) Stephen; brother-in-laws - Charles (Connie), Edward (Debbie), Tom (Kathy), and Dennis (Nancy); and numerous nieces, nephews and family.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 3 - 8 PM at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Vigil Service will follow visitation at 8 PM. Service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Temperanceville, Ohio with Msgr. Mark Froehlich officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
