Charles Lee Moran, 97, of Alliance, Ohio died Monday, July 8, 2013 after a short illness.  He was born in Flushing on October 28, 1915 to the late John and Sadie (Bethel) Moran.

Charles was raised in West Virginia and after the Great Depression, he graduated in 1935 from Grafton High School in West Virginia.  As a machinist, he used his skills and knowledge to train young apprentices in Baltimore, MD, San Francisco, CA and in Puerto Rico.  He also worked in Kent, Oh from 1946-1949, Barnesville, Oh from 1969-1985 and Alliance, Oh from 1985 -2003 when he retired at the age of 88.

With a love of music, at age 14, he bought his first guitar.  He was a self taught musician, which included the violin, mandolin and harmonica.  He played with musicians at many venues, for family and friends.  He was also an engaging storyteller with a quick wit, bright blue eyes and a contagious smile.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cleona Marie (Daily) Moran; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters.

He is survived by son, Kenneth (Shirley) Moran of Orlando, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Through marriage, he was "Uncle Chuck" to generations in the Carter family.  Memories will last a lifetime for those who knew and loved him.

Visitaion will be on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 11am until the time of service at 1pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio with Pastor Ted Buehle officiating.  Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local charity.
