Charles H. Bewley, 96, of Sweetser, Indiana formerly of Somerton, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Colonial Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center in Marion, Indiana. Charles was born on June 29, 1923 in Somerton, Ohio to the late Vernon S. and Ada Belle (Frazier) Bewley.

Charles loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and lived his life reflecting Jesus. Romans 8:28-29 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Charles was; foreknown by God, called by God, justified by God, and now Charles is in the glory of God!"

Charles was a member of the Somerton United Methodist Church where he was Sunday School Superintendent and had been on the Pastor Parish Board. Charles and his wife, Mary Lu, owned and operated Bewley's General Store and the Somerton Post Office, and he also drove school bus for the Barnesville School District. He was a Trustee for the Somerton Cemetery Board and Grand Marshall for the Somerton Parade.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lu Bewley; son, Charles Gordon Bewley; and daughter, Donna J. Mitchell.

Charles is survived by his son, Rev. Dennis (Lois) Bewley of Brunswick, Ohio; daughter, Lu Anne (James) Barbina of Sweetser, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Clyde Bewley; and sister, Barbara Joyce Simmons.

Visitation will be held on Satuday, January 18, 2020 from noon until the time of the service at 1pm at Somerton United Methodist Church, 55400 Washington Street, Barnesville, Ohio. The service will be officiated by Pastor Dale Warrick assisted by James Barbina. The funeral message will be delivered by Pastor Jean Cooper. Burial will follow in Somerton Southern Cemetery in Somerton, Ohio. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.
