Charles Edward Campbell, Sr., 82, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at his home. He was born on September 24, 1942 in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late Ralph Dewey and Dolly Mae (Boggs) Campbell.
Chuck was an Army veteran who also obtained his GED through the Army, He was an 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Hazen 251 Masonic Lodge, and the American Legion Post 168. He worked in the coal mine for thirteen years and became an owner/operator truck driver. Chuck enjoyed contest riding horses and riding motorcycles when he was younger. Chucks greatest love was his family, his grandchildren and great grandchildren was his pride and joy.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph Campbell and James Campbell; sisters, Evelyn Cecil, Gloria Elliot, Virginia Baker, Dewella Borkoski, and Louise Hannahs.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 66 years whom he married on September 5, 1959, Gay Campbell; sons, Ed (Malissa) Campbell, Kevin Campbell, Jerry (Melissa) Campbell; daughters, Carla (Harvey) Temple, Connie (Mark) Erlenwein; grandchildren, Stacey (Jamie) Stevie, Sara (Johannah) Campbell, Sunny (Angelo) Ebright, Samantha (Brandon) Heath, Jeremy (Kathleen) Campbell, Harvey (Natalie) Temple Jr., James (Krystal) Temple, Carissa (Blake) Allen, Jacob (Kristin) Jones, Andrew (Marlena) Erlenwein, Caleb (Mandy) Erlenwein, and Carlee (Jimmy) Ludwig; thirty-three great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; brother, Danny (Jacquie) Campbell; sister Judy Hayes; his loving companion, Oscar; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 6-8pm. The Service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 11:00am with Dr. Brian Bee officiating and the Belmont County Veteran's Association giving Military Honors at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Ebenezer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
