(Mayberry) Clift
August 24, 1929 – November 2, 2022
Betty Mayberry Clift, 93, of Barnesville passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. She was born on August 24, 1929 on the family farm in Somerton, Ohio to the late Harry and Mary (Chappell) Mayberry. Betty graduated from Somerton High School where she was a cheerleader for the Somerton High basketball team. After graduation she moved to Barnesville with her cousin, Jennie Mayberry Huntsman and worked at the garment factory on South Gardner Street. After she married Jr., they lived on Chestnut Street. for a short time and then moved to her current home on Leatherwood Road. Betty was a "stay at home" mom and was an avid supporter of everything her children did. After her children left home, she and Jr. enjoyed square dancing with the Grand Squares of Barnesville where they made many close friends. At this time she also began working at the Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library where she enjoyed assisting patrons and leading "story hours". After retirement, she and her coworkers continued to meet for lunch to celebrate birthdays and met for Betty's birthday this August.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver (Jr.) Clift; her son, David (Bear) Clift; son-in-law, Jim Myers; her infant great granddaughter , Amber Cranston; her brothers:, Earl Mayberry, Harold Mayberry, Bill Mayberry, Frank Mayberry, and Russel Mayberry; and her sisters, Mabel Slevin, Edith Schafer, and Hilda Winezimmer. Betty is survived by her children, Debbie Myers Willhite (Michael) and Rick Clift (Jita); sister, Freda Duvall; daughter-in-law, Melissa Hannahs; grandchildren, Chad Cranston (Alia), Zachary Clift (Ashley), Tyler Clift (Tricia), Seth Clift (Lacey), Kaylee Clift, Erin Morgan (Ryan) and Brandt Myers (Nicole); great-grandchildren, Zoe Cranston, Noah Cranston, Bailey Clift, Colt Clift, Kendal Greenwald, Asher Clift, Kenzie Lucas, Kaiden Lucas, Kaitlyn Guy, Braylon Morgan, Hannah Morgan, Landon Myers and Logan Myers; her faithful friend and caregiver, Robin Guy; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm with Pastor Van Fisher officiating at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty's name to the Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library.
