Betty J. Arick, 86, of Barnesville passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at Cambridge Health and Rehab Center.  She was born in Belmont County on August 8, 1927 to the late Christopher and Stella (Steven) Carpenter.

Betty was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church.  She worked at the Jonathan Logan Company and also the Hanlon Paper Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Arick; two sons: Robert and Tom Arick; four brothers: Chester, Ralph, Richard and Homer Carpenter; and two sisters: Mary Swallie and Ceola Wildes.

She is survived by two sons: Paul (Kathy) Arick of Cambridge and John (Carol) Arick of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Peggy J. Arick of Metamora, IL; eight grandchildren: Danielle (Brad) Eubanks, Lindsay (Matt) Abbott, Jared (Amanda) Arick, Benjamin Burkhart, Timothy (Nicole) Burkhart, Daniel Burkhart, Zachary Arick and Ashley Arick; 6 great-grandchildren; and brother, Melvin Carpenter of Louisianna.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 1pm in Crestview Cemetery with Pastor Richard Cox officiating.  Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.
