Albert L. Parkhurst, 83, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 at his home. He was born on April 19, 1933 in Tryon, Oklahoma to the late E.I. and Mabel (Miller) Parkhurst.
Mr. Parkhurst was retired from the United States Army where he served for 22 years. Albert was a member of the VFW Post 626 in Bellaire and Past Commanders of the Barnesville VFW Post 2792 and Martins Ferry VFW, American Legion Post 52 in Bellaire, and Disabled American Veterans Post 117. He was retired after 20 years from the Belmont Veterans Service Commission where he was Past President.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Parkhurst on September 25, 2004; four brothers, Cyril, Oravel, FLoyd, and Richard Parkhurst; and three sisters, Geraldine Gregg, Shirley Munday, and Gladys Thrasher.
Albert is survived by a son, Christopher A. (Danielle) Parkhurst of Barnesville, Ohio; two daughters, Deborah D. McBride of Barnesville and Ramona M. Barnes of Wheeling; grandchildren, Corrina Kerner, Randy McBride, Jason Duvall, and Jeromy Duvall; six great-grandchildren; brothers, William D. Parkhurst; and sister, Jessie Mae Parkhurst.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 3-7 PM at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio where services will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 10 AM with Pastor Rodney West officiating. Burial will follow at Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan Point, Ohio. Military Honors held by Belmont County Veterans Association will conclude the service at the cemetery.
