Richard E. Stephen, 98, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Emerald Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born on September 15, 1920 in Calais, Ohio to the late John Richard and Nancy Elizabeth (Miller) Stephen.
Richard was a retired coal miner from R&F Coal Company and was in the Civilian Conservation Corps Military Camp in Idaho during WWII.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Evelyn (Sidel) Stephen on January 17, 2013; a daughter, Teresa Rattine; and siblings, Clyde Stephen, Daisy Gallagher, Garnett Stephens, Civilla Carpenter, Rolland Stephen, and Halbert Stephen.
Richard is survived by his nine children, Lanny (Nancy) Stephen of Speidel, Leland (Pat) Stephen of Barnesville, Monte (Cathy) Stephen of Barnesville, Garry (Beth) Stephen of Barnesville, Hughey (Vicki) Stephen of Barnesville, Jewett (Kim) Stephen of Barnesville, Carolyn (Dale) Bunting of Barnesville, Sharon (Greg) Swallie of Plain City, and Mickie (John) Barrett of Morristown; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; three sisters, Martha Lou Thompson of Barnesville, Mary Carpenter of Barnesville, and Ruth Jackson of Marietta.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 11 AM until the time of the funeral at 1 PM with Pastor Rodney West officiating at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville, Ohio.
