Mary M. (Powell) Peters

Mary M. Peters, 96, of Barnesville passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Emerald Pointe Nursing and Rehab.  Mary was born on May 31, 1921 in Temperanceville, Ohio to the late Rufus and Norma (Brown) Powell.

Mary was a Deacon of the Barnesville First Presbyterian Church.  Mary was an insurance agent and owner of Peters Insurance Agency.  She was a member of the Ladies Elks, Professional Business Womens' Association, a Charter Member of the Ladies of the VFW, an Eastern Star member, and very active in volunteering and the twig through Barnesville Hospital. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Peters; and siblings: Marion Powell, Virginia Gray, Agnes Gallagher, Jahu Powell and Barbara Smith.

Mary is survived by her son, Steven (Marianne) Peters of Barnesville; daughter, Penny (John) Clair DiFranco of Tarpon Springs, Florida; two granddaughters: Kelly (Ryan) Johanssen and Jill (Alan) Mayrer; five great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Gray; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 4-7pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.  The service will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at noon with Rev. Tom Detling officiating.  Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery.
