Mary Kay (Drake) Allison

Mary Kay Allison, 66, of Barnesville  was called home to rest Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 10:05 pm at Cleveland Clinic. Kay was born on August 23, 1952 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to the late William H. and Essie Mae Jackson Drake, Sr.

Kay graduated from Barnesville High School in 1971. She then went to Wheeling Northern Community College where she took classes in the medical field. Kay would soon realize that her true calling was to help guide, mentor, and inspire kids. Kay was not only a mother to her children, Christina Drake Wiggins of Zanesville, Robert Allison of Martins Ferry, and Kimberly Allison of Martins Ferry, but she was a mother and friend to almost every member of the Barnesville High School band from 1987 to 2019.

Kay was also very active in her community. She loved playing softball, marching with the band, and anything that involved kids in the community. She was a member of the Bethel AME Church in Barnesville until its closure. She then chose to worship at the First Christian Church in Barnesville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary B. Allison on August 25, 2005; brother, William "Billy" Drake, Jr.; and sister, Dora Mae Pitts.

In addition to her children, Kay is survived by her sisters, Jean Matz of Barnesville and Lavone Potter of Youngstown; eight grandchildren, Tiara Wiggins, Malcolm Wiggins, Shayla Smith, Markeese Allison, Jamal Wiggins, Kiera Allison, KàVone Allison, and Malik Allison; six nieces & nephews, Jennifer Edwards, Ronald Edwards, Essie Wilson, Mark Wilson, Nicole Wilson, and Missy Pitts; 11 great-nieces & nephews, Xavier and Isaiah Edwards, Gavin and Aden Zumock, Braddy, Emily, and Skyler Wilson, Kiayonna and TaShawna Wilson, and Rylen Jeffers; and a host of cousins as well as her BHS band family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio where the service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 11 AM with Pastor Ed Eberhart officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville, Ohio.
