John Lee Sawvel

John Lee Sawvel, 75, of Barnesville died Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at his home.  He was born in Barnesville on April 1, 1941 to the late John Leo and Mytha Jean (Groves) Sawvel.

John is a member of the Barnesville First United Methodist Church.  He is a 1959 graduate of Barnesville High School and retired from Barnesville Hospital where he worked as Chief Financial Officer and retired as a controller.  John is a member of the 200 Club, Ohio Bluebird Society, Sugarberry Twig, Goaliners, a Lifetime Member of the Friends of Magee Marsh, a member of the Barnesville Hospital Board, was nominated twice for the Albert E. Dyckes Healthcare worker of the year and Barnesville Hospital Employee of the Year twice.

John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Polly Sawvel; three sons: John (Debbie) Sawvel of Toledo, Jeff (Jessica) Sawvel of Clinton, NC and Jay (Jeannine) Sawvel of Blaine, MN; five grandchildren: Catherine (Brad) Asbury, Mackenzie Sawvel, Miranda Sawvel, Alexandra Sawvel and Katherine Sawvel; sister, Jane (David) Daley of LaPorte, IN; sisters-in-law: Patty (Clayton) Christensen and Sandy (Bob) Smith both of Barnesville; aunt, Louis Dwyer of Enon, OH; and several nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.  A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 1:30pm at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery.
