John Franklin Kurtz, 70, of Barnesville passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Ohio Valley Medical Center. John was born in Malaga, Ohio on May 26, 1948 to the late Theodore and Shirley (Morris) Kurtz.
John was a mechanic by trade who enjoyed working on cars and woodworking. He was well known for his meticulous yard work and for his display of Christmas lights. He loved playing cards and making homemade wine for his family and friends to enjoy.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings: Donald Kurtz, Bill (Linda) Kurtz, Margie Fansler and Mary Kurtz; and brother-in-law, Jerry Wickes.
John is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda K. Kurtz; children: Sherry (Kenny) Crum of Newark, Peggy Kurtz of Barnesville. John (Penny) Kurtz of Barnesville and Christine (Jeremy) Ghent of California; eight grandchildren: Rachel (Phil) Williams, Michelle (Scott) Baker, Lindsay (Aub) Nolan, John Tyler Kurtz, Kyle Yaquinta, Jamey Taylor, Cameron Ghent and Alex Ghent; six great-grandchildren; five siblings: Minnie (Charles) Saffell, Jim (Sue) Kurtz, Helen (Barry) Nelms, Linda Wickes and Phyllis (Dean) Dingus; sisters-in-law, Sharon Kurtz, Helen Harvey and Nancy (Larry) Wise; brother-in-law, Glenn Brown; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Lulu.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 2 until the time of the service at 7pm with Pastor Ed Eberhart at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.
