James "Tac" Rolland Murphy, 67, of Groveport, Ohio passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Mount Carmel East in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on December 7, 1949 in Barnesville, Ohio to the late Rolland J. and Edna Mae (Milhoan) Murphy.
Jim was a 1968 graduate of Barnesville High School and was a retired case manager for Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services. He was a member of the Brookside Baptist Church in Reynoldsburg and attended the First Baptist Church in Groveport.
Jim was very interested in sports. He played football in high school and softball at the park in his younger years. When the girls became old enough to play he helped coach their softball teams. While he enjoyed watching most sports on television his true love was for the Ohio State Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William "Scott" Murphy, Harold Jeffery Murphy, and John Robert Murphy.
Jim is survived by his wife, Karen (Lynn) Murphy; three children, Amy (Peter Chan) Glover of Charleroi, Pennsylvania, Crystal (Dennis) Smith of Columbus, and April Murphy of Groveport; eight grandchildren, Faith Murphy-Pickett, Rebecca Breedlove, Elexia Smith, Jared Smith, Savannah Smith, Xena Lucas, Maya Lucas, and Xavier Lucas; brother, John Terry (Ellen) Brown; and five sisters, Patricia Ann (James) Noe, Bridget Kay (Keith) Crum, Judith Kathleen (Bruce) Morrison, Cynthia Jane (Brian) Jefferis, and Kelly Elizabeth Mills.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 3 PM until the time of the service at 6 PM at the First Baptist Church, 94 Shady Lane, Barnesville, Ohio. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio.
