Harold D. Hickenbottom, 79, of Barnesville passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 in Barnesville. Harold was born on January 31, 1939 in Somerton, Ohio to the late Ross and Wilma "Tillie" (Montgomery) Hickenbottom.
Harold was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Somerton Church of Christ and a 1957 graduate of Barnesville High School. Harold retired from South Central Power as a lineman. He was a member of the American Legion Post #168 and the I.B.E.W.
Harold will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was a kind and caring man who loved to be involved with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Martha and Harold had a relationship that everyone admired, he was a loving and devoted husband. Harold loved farming, hunting, fishing and feeding all of the wildlife that visited him. He shared his love of hunting with many special friends that he met through the years that he considered family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley McCarthy.
Harold is survived by his Bride of 53 years, Martha (Brubach) Hickenbottom; son, Mike (Karen) Hickenbottom of West Liberty, Ohio; two daughters: Tonya (Ken) Carpenter of Barnesville and Mindy Hickenbottom of Gahanna, Ohio; five grandchildren: Emily (Jeremy) Eberhart of Barnesville, Haleigh (Levi) Woodruff of Urbana, Nathan Carpenter of Barnesville, Ross Hickenbottom of Columbus and Max Shulak of Gahanna; two great-grandchildren: Hudson Eberhart and Landry Woodruff; two brothers: Richard (Peggy) Hickenbottom of Barnesville and Jim Hickenbottom of Cambridge; "brother" James (Vicky) Wiggins of Zanesville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 4-8pm and Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 10am until the time of the service at 11am with Pastor Jeff Jordan at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Veteran's Association.
