Catherine Newton (Collins) Naylor

Catherine Newton Naylor, 100, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Astoria Place of Barnesville. She was born on October 10, 1917 in Cumberland, Ohio to the late Harry Weldon and Bessie Jane (Allison) Collins.

Catherine graduated from Cumberland High School and Bliss Business College in Columbus, Ohio. In 1942, she was married to Bernard Naylor in Abilene, Texas at the Presbyterian Church where her husband and brother attended. The ministers wife and choir members helped plan the wedding. For four years during World War II, she worked with her husband, who was in the Army, at Hammond Army General Evacuation Hospital in Modesto, California.

After returning to Columbus, she worked for Zurkerman Accounting Firm before being employed as a secretary by Columbus Public Schools retiring in 1985.

Catherine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Barnesville and the Barnesville Senior Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Bernard Ellsworth Naylor on April 1, 1998; eight siblings, Ralph Weldon Collins, Willard (June) Collins, Mary (Ralph) Elizabeth Trippett, Ruth (Nick) Geraldine Nicholson, Harry (Virginia) Robert Collins, Marjorie (Arthur) Bradley, John (widower three times to Wilma, Mildred, and Ester) Allison Collins, and Dorothy Miller Collins.

Catherine is survived by her son, Bernard Allison Naylor of Barnesville; and several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 from 4-7 PM at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio where services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 11 Am with Rev. Andy Woods officiating. Burial will follow at 3 PM at Cumberland Cemetery in Cumberland, Ohio.
