Brian Smith Obituary


Brian D. Smith, 55, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center.
He was born on June 29, 1962, to the late David C. Smith and Paulette S. Smith (Hickman) of Quaker City, Ohio. 
Brian was a 1981 graduate of Buckeye Trail High School. He was employed as an over- the- road truck driver, and in his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Though he had moved to Iowa, Brian was always an avid Ohio State fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leslyn D. Smith (Fisher), along with grandparents Victor (Pauline) Hickman of Parkersburg and Charles (Martha) Smith of Caldwell.
He is survived by his two daughters, Meredith (Kayla) Maloney of Galloway, Ohio, and Hannah Smith (Jason Hatcher) of Barnesville, Ohio; two brothers, Ron Smith (Kathy Hayes Blake) and Paul Jason (Theresa) Smith; and a sister, Martha Morris(Paul Fortner). He will also be remembered by his five stepchildren, Brian Kinkennon of Iowa, Tami Waltz of North Carolina, Traci Soles of North Carolina, Todd Wilson of Iowa, and Danielle Mitchell of Colorado, as well as several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Brian wished to be cremated, and there will be no public service.
