Oh Patty Your mom and dad were so very precious! So sorry to hear of your loss! We had such beautiful times together growing up, all the sleepovers at your house! Your mom was an amazing cook, and fed all of us very well! :) she had such a sweet smile and loving touch. Hugs!!! and Love to all of you! Hold onto the precious memories for they will give you peace in months and years to come. Our precious mom passed away eight years ago and there's never a day goes by that we don't miss her! She told us to remember her with happiness and no tears, or not to remember her at all. So every time I reflect on days gone by and the tears come, I say happy tears mom, they are simply happy tears. ;) Hugs! <3

Barb made a huge impact on my life at a young age. She helped care for me like she did for her own children every time I visited their farm outside of Hendrysburg. She made sure we ate right, kept us scrubbed clean, and put us to bed on time every night. Barb was one of the rocks in my life that helped anchor a rambunctious boy to the ground. She was one of the few adult neighbors who I came to think of as family. I always felt safe near her and she was never judgmental toward me. As a child in grade school, our teacher once asked our class whether any of us had someone, other than our own family, who we could turn to in a crisis or emergency. I was one of only a few children who immediately raised a hand. I knew for a fact that Barb would have scooped me up and provided for me without hesitation.

As I write this, I pause to find the right words to describe her and what continues coming to mind are four words; sunshine, love, kindness, & happiness. Barb seemed to be a continuous bright ray of sunshine when I was near her and she emanated love & sincere, natural kindness. But mostly what rises to the surface of my memory is the happiness I felt when I was near her. I knew all was right with the world when she was nearby.

I was not fortunate enough to have ever known my grandparents; but, if I had been able to select one individual in this world to fill that loving position, it would have been Barbara Riser - without question!

My sincerest condolences to Barb's entire family.
