Virgil Leonard Hannahs, Sr., 82, of Barnesville died Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Ohio Valley Medical Center.  Virgil was born in Calais, Ohio on March 20, 1934 to the late Leland and Dorothy (DeLong) Hannahs.

Virgil was a veteran of the United States Army.  He worked for 43 years for the railroad and retired from the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway, but his family always came first.   Virgil was a member of the Wharton's Sportsman Club.  He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time outside.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dolly Bea Hannahs; grandson, Brandon Smith; four brothers: Ansel, Paul, Joseph and John Hannahs; and two sisters:  Lily Eggman and Irene Hannahs.

Virgil is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sylvia Louise Hannahs; three sons: Virigl L. (Sue) Hannahs, Tom (Jeannie) Hannahs and Bob (Bonnie) Hannahs all of Barnesville; seven grandchildren: Toni Hannahs, Trey Hannahs, Shane Hannahs, Cody Hannahs, Casey VanHorn, Tori Hannahs and Briar Hannahs; seven great-grandchildren; siblings: Jerry (Monica) Hannahs, Jack (Mary Ellen) Hannahs, Renee Brown, Nancy Holloway and Jeannie Elliot; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Ebenezer Cemetery in Bethesda, Ohio.  Arrangements entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.
