Mary Margaret (Campbell) Cheffy

Mary Margaret (Campbell) Cheffy, daughter of the late John Alexander Campbell and the late Sarah Margaret (Shepherd) Campbell, died November 9, 2016 of cancer at the Fairhaven retirement community in Sykesville, Maryland. She was 85.

Mrs. Cheffy was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Frederick Hasbrouck “Ted” Cheffy and her sister Nancy Adelyn (Campbell) Plumly.

Mrs. Cheffy was born and raised in Barnesville, Ohio. She attended Denison University, and then transferred to The Ohio State University where she graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospital Dietetics. She was a member of the Nu chapter of the Delta Delta Delta sorority.

She enjoyed playing golf, and was a member of the Chartwell Golf and Country Club of Severna Park, MD. for over 30 years. Mrs. Cheffy was also a member of Severna Park United Methodist Church of Severna Park, MD., where she volunteered in the church office for a number of years. She was a member of the Panhellenic Club of Annapolis, MD.

Mrs. Cheffy moved from her longtime home in Severna Park, MD., to the Fairhaven retirement community in Sykesville, MD. in 2012.

Surviving are her three children, John Frederick Cheffy and his wife Robyn Cheffy of Grapevine, TX., Frederick Grant “Ted” Cheffy and his wife Cindy Cheffy of Maggie Valley, NC, Amy Margaret Cheffy of Arlington, VA; seven grandchildren, Steven Cheffy of High Point, NC, Jason Cheffy of Khon Kaen, Thailand, Nathan Cheffy of Dallas, TX., Sarah Saiz, Phillip Saiz, Grant Saiz, and Elly Saiz; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Cheffy, and Pierce Cheffy.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 PM with Rev. Ted Buehl officiating at Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Severna Park United Methodist Church, or the American Cancer Society.
