Martha J. (Howell) Reed

Martha J. Reed, 94, of Barnesville died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at her home.  She was born in Belmont County on September 8, 1921 to the late Howard J. and Bertha (Fritter) Howell of Flushing.

Martha was a registered nurse having graduated from White Cross Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus.  She was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, Belmont Grange, Laural Twig and had been a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul for over 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, G. Virgil Reed; brothers: Walton Howell and Howard Isaac Howell; and sisters: Virginia Seidel and Lila Hartin.

Martha is survived by two sons: George (Carolyn) Reed of Kingwood, TX, and Arthur (Phyllis) Reed of Barnesville; four daughters: Jane Shah of Dallas, TX, Marilyn (Larry) Croucher of Williamstown, WV, Anita (Dan) Plumly of Wooster, OH,  and Alice (William) Hunkler of Barnesville; 14 grandchildren: Nancy Noel, Betsy Ullrich, Ed Reed, Jameel Shah, Naseem Shah-Astrom, Nicole Reed, Dustin Reed, Kyle Plumly, Katie Plumly, Cameron Plumly, Aubrey Landtiser, Wendy Kornell, Laura Hunkler and Todd Hunkler; 14 great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Betty (Biddle) Brown of St. Clairsville, Eloise (Ronald) Hagans of Barberton, and Sue (Fred) Cooney of Arizona.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016 from 5-7pm and Saturday from 10am until the time of the service at 11am with Pastor Richard Cox officiating at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.  Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery.
