Louise Kefgen (Kefgen) Cheffy

Louise Sarah Kefgen Cheffy, 90, of Barnesville died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Wheeling Hospital.  Louise was born on June 17, 1925 in Eveleth, MN to the late Edward A. and Sarah (McElheron) Kefgen.

Louise was a member of the Barnesville First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of the University of Michigan where she earned a degree in speech therapy.  Later she received her teaching certification at Ohio University and taught fourth grade at Barnesville Elementary School for 10 years. Louise was extremely active in the Barnesville community where she was involved with many organizations including the Barnesville Hospital and the Barnesville Hutton Memorial Library.  Louise and her husband, George, were instrumental in preserving the Barnesville Depot. She was devoted to her family and friends and will be remembered for her compassionate nature and magnanimous spirit.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George William Cheffy, and sister, Mary Kefgen.

Louise is survived by two sons: Edward K. (Keri) Cheffy and Louis W. Cheffy both of Naples, FL; daughter, Sally L. Cheffy of Quincy, MA; four grandchildren: Emily R. (Chancey) Martin, Sarah K. Cheffy, Anna C. Cheffy and John E. Cheffy; great-granddaughter, Camille E. Martin; sister, Betty Kessler of Boulder, CO; and loving nieces and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 1pm until the time of the memorial service at 4pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Louise's memory to the Barnesville Hospital Building Fund, Barnesville Community Foundation Depot Committee, or Barnesville First United Methodist Church.
