John Paul Sampson

John Paul Sampson, 89, of Barnesville died Sunday, May 15, 2016 at his home.  He was born on October 21, 1926 in Boston, Ohio to the late John Henry and Hazel Leota (Stephens) Sampson.

John is a veteran of the US Navy and served during WWII.  He is a member of the VFW Post 2792 and the American Legion Post 168.  John was the owner of Barnesville Motors.  He and Evelyn enjoyed dealing antiques and were especially fond of Carnival Glass.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Charlene Esposito and two brothers: William Sampson and Kenneth Sampson.

John is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Evelyn Sampson; son, Bruce (Nancy) Sampson of Charleston, SC; daughter, Cindy (Bruce) McGee of Barnesville; seven grandchildren: Krista (Nick) Vernon, Dena Sampson, Steve (Diana) McGee, Peggy (Shane) Skinner, Kari (Liz Meredith)  McGee, Jayna (Luther) Meyer and Erika (Steven) Drexler; thirteen great-grandchildren: Nichole Vernon, Astin Skinner, Kyleigh McGee, Tyler Vernon, Haiden Skinner, Jayln Skinner, Brooke Vernon, Travis Vernon, Kenadie McGee, Luther Meyer, Jr., Lydia Meyer, Roman Drexler and Elliott Drexler; brother, Wayne (EvaJean) Sampson of Belmont; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 4-8pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 310 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio.  The service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 1:00pm with Jamie Helmick officiating.  Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery.  VFW Belmont County Honor Guard will conduct military services at the funeral home at 12:45pm.
