Herbert J. Parkinson, Sr., 79 of Buffalo died Friday, August 26, 2016 at Summit Acres. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on March 25, 1937 to the late Herbert G. and Elizabeth S. (Davison) Parkinson.
Herb was a 1955 graduate of Barnesville High School and attended the Ninth Street Methodist Church in Cambridge. He was a member of the Southeastern Ohio Civil War Round Table and the Cambridge Book Club. He enjoyed studying the Civil War, fishing and reading. Herb was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Rebecca Ann Hesketh and Nancy Sue Blake.
Herb is survived by his wife of 60 years who he married on August 25, 1956, Mary Jo Parkinson of Buffalo; three children: Herbert J. Parkinson, Jr., of Bridgeport, Melissa (Keith) Jenkins of Sunbury, Ohio and Jason A. Parkinson of Florida; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brother, John Timothy (Marsha) Parkinson of Barnesville.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm with Pastor Karen Rawlins officiating at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery in Bethesda, Ohio.
