Henry C. Burdette

Henry C. Burdette, 90, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at his home. He was born on April 10, 1926 in Jerusalem, Ohio to the late Chester and Shelda (Carpenter) Burdette.

Henry was a United States Army Veteran of World War II where he was an Aircraft Welder. He was retired from Operating Engineers Local 18 and was an airplane mechanic for 50 years. He was a member of the Barnesville First United Methodist Church, Barnesville VFW Post 168, Friendship Lodge #89 F&AM, Scottish Rite in Cambridge, and Experimental Aircraft Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nora (Dillon) Burdette; and sister, Shirley VanFossen.

Henry is survived by his wife, Mary (Stephens) Burdette; two daughters, Molly West of Barnesville and Russa (John) Thomas of Malaga; three granddaughters, Gara McNeil, Ondra (Rodney) Gray and Chesney (John) Mariani; nine great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Deal; brother, Jon D. (Mary Ann) Arnold; five step-children: Polly (Terry) Heiser, Jamie (Debbie) Byrd, Marsha Byrd, Greg Byrd and Richard Byrd; nine step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio where a masonic service will be held at 7:45pm. The service will be conducted on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 1:00pm with Rev. Tom Detling officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville, Ohio where military honors will be conducted by Guernsey County Veterans Council.
