George R. Riser, Jr., 63, of Quaker City, Ohio passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 8, 1953 in Wheeling, West Virginia to Barbara L. (Belden) Riser of Quaker City and the late George R. Riser, Sr.

George was a 1971 graduate of Zane Trace School and a member of Calvary Apostolic Tabernacle in Cambridge. He was a proud American that proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS America CV66 during the Vietnam War. A retired coal miner from Ohio Valley Coal Company No. 6 Mine, where he was a member of the United Mine Workers of America #1810. George loved working on tractors with his grandsons, enjoyed fishing, and was an avid hunter who supported his 2nd Amendment Right.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his faithful wife, Rosalie E. (Piatt) Riser of Quaker City; 3 devoted children, Hollie N. (Jesse) Sanner, George R. Riser, III, and Charles R.A. Riser all of Quaker City; 7 adoring grandchildren, Logan, Mackenzie, and Nicholas Dodd, Jude and Gabriel Sanner, and Eva and Charlotte Riser; siblings, Sharon Giesey of Quaker City, Patricia (Robert) Kerns of Quaker City, Mark Riser of Lloydsville, and Barb (Richard) Butler of Byesville; a special cousin, Tommy Riser; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends, including longtime devoted friend, Kit Harrison, and adopted son, Jeremy D. Hollister.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 4-8pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville where services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 2:00pm with Pastor Mark Mealick officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, Ohio. Military Honors will be conducted at the cemetery by Guernsey County Veterans Council.

The family would like to thank Allegheny General Hospital Cancer Center and especially Dr. Dulabh Monga for their compassion and care for George.
